Until I'm HOME!

Even though I'll only be back for a week,I know very well it is better than nothing at all.Can't wait to be in the embrace of my parents and friends.Can't wait for the smell of my home when I open the door.Can't wait for the taste of food that I could NEVER get here.Can't wait.
There was a time,or many times,that I had wish to be anywhere but home.
But right now,where I want to be is,at home.
Don't get me wrong.This place I'm currently living at does feel like home with the amazing people that make my each day.I have been truly blessed.
Yes,I know I have said it many times,but I will not cease to say it again and again,that I am blessed.To be here,to study what I have always dreamed of,to be with people that love me,that I am happy and grateful,content,with all that I have received and receiving.
But there's just no place,no place at all,like home.
For me,home is where my loved ones are.So,currently,I have three homes.
Malaysia,New Zealand and Indonesia.
Malaysia,I'm coming home!
New Zealand,I hope I'll be able to visit this year.I miss you so much that I dream about being there..
Indonesia,you'll always have a place in my heart.

I'm a terrible blogger,isn't it?When I started afresh for this blog,I promised that I would blog more especially when I start the brand new life here.But then,who knew this new life would be sucking up all of my time and energy?

Okay,I know,I kind of owe this place a post on food and random stuff about here.But...Guess what?
I have finals for my first semester in approximately less than 2 weeks!So,you'll just have to wait.longer.
Heh.Not like you've not waited before?And not like this place hasn't been dead before :P So,just be a little more patient,and I promise I would come up with something good when the hectic days are on hold. :)

GUESS WHO IS COMING TO TOWN THIS CHRISTMAS?!?!
Next wednesday evening,I would be expecting a VERY special person,it's the best Christmas present ever!Christmas means so much more when you're away from home and loved ones.True story.
I am excited that I'll be spending Christmas eve with this much-loved person!And also another guest,will be joining both of us.~~I'm nervous~~.

On a random note,it has only been three months,and so much have changed.So much happened.And trust me,SO MUCH,is a lot.The good and the bad,despite of it all,I am glad to announce that I am truly blessed and happy.Thank You,God..For being so good to me,despite all of my mistakes and misconducts.

Hello again!As promised,I am back to fill you in :D

It's almost hard to believe that I have been living in Indonesia for two months already and stepping into the third month here.Life has definitely changed for me and definitely a change that I am still trying to adapt to.

To those who may not know yet,I am currently living on campus at the medical students' hostel.Basically,there are 4 buildings.2 for girls,1 for boys and 1 for twining students of UKM which are Malaysians only.Laundry,internet and electricity is free except for extra electrical items such as hairdryer,kettle,fan etc.Water is provided but with a minimal cost.Where I live,Jatinangor,they're big on water dispensers.So,those refillable water containers that goes along with the dispenser are very common.I do not know where the water comes from or how clean it is,I just pray that God bless the water.really.So,about the room,it's twin sharing with a bathroom,cupboard,study table and plenty of drawers and shelves.However,the other unit which is the other girls' hostel don't have drawers and shelves.

The weather in Bandung is cooling ranging from 20 degrees to 33 degrees on really hot afternoons.But it's always cold in the evening and night.always.The monsoon has started so it has been raining everyday,thankfully not all day.The roads here are mostly dirt roads if not tarred.So your feet gets really eeky if it was wet.One thing is,I do kinda enjoy the weather here.Despite the afternoons being hot when it's not the rainy season,it is windy.I love the wind.Also,there's a huge volcanic mountain behind my uni,so I guess all that green helps.HOWEVER,the people here do not know how to appreciate the air and constantly do open burning everyday.The country is too poor to provide proper garbage disposal system or facility,that everything you throw away here,ends up in ashes.sad.

The main mode of transportation here is by foot.Wait,maybe that's for me.Most common mode of public transportation here would be the angkot and ojeck.Angkot is basically a small van that will pass through most roads and stop at almost anywhere.But if you need to travel further in a housing area,then that's what an ojeck is for.Ojeck is basically a motorcycle service.A guy will take you wherever you need to,however far in it may be,on a motorcycle,for a price of course.The cost of taking an ojeck is negotiable but the angkot is pretty standard.The rule is: Never ask how much.The moment you open your mouth to ask,they know you're not local or familiar and would most probably try to take advantage of you.Thankfully,I have not had that experience despite asking the price during my first time.

Most of the people here are friendly and helpful.If you ask for any information,they will tell you if they knew but would be honest if they didn't know.(for me at least) Language is still quite a barrier as I am able to understand basic and perhaps a bit more of Indonesian but unable to speak fluently yet.Not to forget,I have to learn Sundanese as most people in Bandung speak Sundanese and will help me during my clinical years.

The education system here is different,way different compared to ours.Here,right after high school,if you get the grades,you can apply right away into university.For medicine and dentistry,there's always an entrance exam for every university,and if you pass it,you meet the other requirements,you're a university student!So,from what I just told you,you should be able to guess that most of the students here,especially my medical batch mates,are around 16-18 years old.And damn.I feel old.But they're really,really,childish in a lot of ways.So,I keep reminding myself that they're still young and try to keep my fury down.

So,what have I been up to lately?I have discovered the joy of taking long walks or jogs around the campus during the early mornings.I would love to try it out during the night but the problem is that the streets here aren't lighted up so it's scary and dangerous.I recently visited the morning market nearby the campus too.It was the longest morning market I have ever been too throughout all my travels.Seriously.I bought a big pillow and an iPhone cover.haha.Which cost me less than RM20 in total.Yes,so I have decided to take the cheaper road now but I think it was a bargain ;)

As I type this,I am actually down with a combination of flu and vomiting and diarrhea.I have no idea what's the diagnosis.But I suspect it's common cold due to lack of rest and food poisoning.Thank God the nauseous feeling has subsided today.I spent all day in bed yesterday cause I could not do anything,even move without wanting to throw up.I slept so much too :D

Next post,all about food!Or more like,the food I eat :D and perhaps some other random stuff.

Greetings from the capital of West Java!Where there are volcanic mountains,cold breeze and a girl trying her best to survive first year of medical school. :)

It has been awhile now.Not planning on this update,but since I refuse to sleep or study (which I know I will regret in the morning), I thought I just fill this space with some happenings.

Firstly,I did NOT realise that one month has passed!Time really flies where I'm at.Or,cause of what my life is right now.I can't imagine what it will be like when I start working.My every weekend here since I arrived have been occupied.My weekdays are filled with events to attend or work.Only lately I found time to start studying.Mid Sem exam is in two weeks and I think I'm kind of behind time.sigh.I pray that I will finish everything on time and that everything will stick!I find it difficult to prepare for this exam because I really don't know what to expect.The exam format is sort of fixed but every doctor want different details in the exam.AHHH!STRESS!

I know I promised that I will blog more about Bandung or Indonesia or life here.But,I guess we all got to wait for another two weeks before I can fulfill my promise.I WILL update this place once I'm done with Mid Sem.PROMISE! :) And trust me,you will be pleased ;)

Other than that,I am really grateful and thankful to God that I passed my TOEFL exam that was compulsory for everyone despite having IELTS and whatnot.I did not study or practice questions at all for this exam as Daddy arrived from Malaysia the night before.Before I slept that night,half-asleep,I was checking through the format of the exam and then decided I would study in the bus the next day.But that didn't happen either cause I slept through the whole journey.So,Thank You Father!

I am also VERY grateful and thankful for the people that God has blessed me with since I arrived.I have to admit that I found a new family here at Indonesia and hope that this family will continue to be blessed with love,joy and peace. :) Also,there's someone in particular that makes me very happy.And I hope things stay the best it can cause we're going to spend five years here.If something goes wrong,that's beyond repair,I'll be broken to lose a great person.I don't want history repeating itself.I want friendships that will last a lifetime.
And,Love that will last a lifetime too.
I thank God,for everything.It makes more sense now :)
I'm enjoying this and pray that I will overcome what ever that comes my way.

First Taste

Hello.Once again!I know I've been MIA for awhile now.So,here's what I have been up to.

Currently in a new country,so plenty of adapting to do.There's just so much.So much going on.
Since arriving,I felt that time passes so fast that it is difficult for me to recollect my thoughts and be overly homesick.But I do miss home.I miss the people most of all of course!Just that I don't really find myself crying or dwelling on the fact that I DO miss my family and friends SO SO SO much.

I was just dreading over the fact that Monday has come but it's already Wednesday now.And that my first mid semester exam is in a month's time.OH THE HORROR.I have not even fully grasp the format of the exam.Everyone seems to be doing it according to what works for them and that makes it difficult to know what is right and what is not.By everyone,I meant the seniors and each tutor's method varies.sickening.In a sick and twisted way,things work systematically unsystematic here.wait,what?

Enough of that.

I must say I have been truly blessed to have found myself some pretty awesome friends.Though it has only been a few weeks,I know I am surrounded by great and loving people.I met most of them back in Malaysia.Being here,helps us to see who is worth keeping as friends,and most of all as family.I must say,this is my new family here and I thank God for it. :) Also,I have been attending church!I'm very happy to have been able to go to church every sunday so far.The church I am currently attending is in Bandung City but transport is provided and we are accompanied by Malaysian seniors who are absolutely kind and nice.Though not an English church,it is most of the time bilingual and that is good enough for me.A fully Indonesian-conducted church is much more difficult and awkward,trust me.
I am also happy to report that there is a CF in the medical faculty or uni.Two,in fact.One is with the Indonesian students and another created by the Malaysians,for the Malaysians.I have attended both and both are equally fun and fulfilling.

I am sad to report that my English is getting from bad to worse.I hope by reading all the medical textbooks,my English will improve or at least,survive.There's so much to read and study.For one session of lecture,there are about 70-100 slides.Each lecture is 3 hours long and I have a full day of lectures every Tuesday and one on Mondays.

It's almost a month now,since I arrived.Oh Father,help me through!October is going to be more stressful and full of surprises.I'm sure. :)

Outside my window...

There are three incidents that happened.Or,happens frequently.However,do take note,that the third incident only happened once.Thank God!

Incident 1
So for those who know me enough,would know that I live in a government apartment.My family was blessed to have the ground floor unit as there are no elevators.Having said that,there are many cons to that advantage.One of the most significant would be that the bunch of contract foreign workers that clean the area happen to find sitting outside my window,where our so called garden is,very comfortable.There are 10 blocks in the compound but I do not know or understand why of all places,outside my window happens to be the most appealing to rest.Resting would be fine with me actually.But,what I can't stand is that they can't bloody shut their pipeholes.You see,they speak with extremely high-pitch voices like cats sound when being run over.RIGHT OUTSIDE MY WINDOW,BESIDE MY BED.I did consider putting up a silent-zone sign on my window but realised they might not be able to read.Even if it was in Indonesian.Yeah,call me a bitch,I don't care.Come live with me for one day on a weekday,then you'll understand the point I'm trying to make here.

Incident 2
Before my trip to NZ last year,I was in my room a lot.And on one night,I heard a knock on my window.My natural reaction would be to see who's there.*Knock knock**Who's there?* and guess what? *NO ONE!* Well,of course I didn't ask who's there but when I checked,there wasn't anyone there.At first,I thought it would have been a family member cause they always do that to me knowing that I'll be in my room,and giving me the heads up that they're on their way to the front door.But when I realised that no one came to the house,I sensed some hanky panky going on.But I told myself,I was probably just imagining things.
A few days after,the same thing happened.First knock,I ignored thinking I was hearing things.Second knock,I yelled for my mother to check it out.But when my mum checked,no one was there.Then,it happened again.My mother instinctively took a piece of wood from the kitchen and went out the front door to check it out.No one.
This incident repeated a couple of times and everytime it happened,I won't bother going to the window.In fact,it made me very angry knowing someone was literally harassing me.One night,daddy was home when it happened.Father and mother went out with torchlight,wood and a metal rod (I THINK).Apparently saw some boy on his way taking out the trash but he claimed it wasn't him.Also,there were a group of unknown guys around.I don't know who else father and mother spoke to or complained to,but ever since that incident,no more knocking!I guess the wood and metal rod did really show that perv who's THE BAUSS!And,most definitely,who NOT to mess with!MUAHAHA!

Incident 3
Last year,can't exactly remember which month,there was an accident.Or more like negligence.There was a family living 3 floors above me,and their 11 month-old son crawled out their opened bedroom window and...as you might have guessed,fell out and landed right outside my bedroom window.It was in the news apparently.On tv and in the newspaper.The parents kinda realised that he was missing only after awhile.When they realised he was missing and probably looked out the window,realised their son was in the drain outside my window.However,there was no blood at all.Sadly,the baby was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.I won't get into the details of how I found out,but let's just say I knew something was wrong before the parents knew.Problem is,the window seal is quite high above my bed,so I can't see what's in the drain.When the father came down to take him,I was wondering why the heck is there a baby outside my window?Children usually play outside my window but I knew the baby was way to small to play by himself.And,it was too early to play.Like 7 in the morning.This is a very sad story,but true.

Now,I'm wondering...Is my window cursed?And no,there are no sightings or hauntings of any entities.

Hello there,to anyone that still drops by hoping for an update of my life!Not that it's interesting or anything,but I know you're probably nosy. :p

Life is good.Or at least I try to think of it that way.Have been stuffing myself with food,constantly.Thus,gaining weight steadily!I usually think twice or more before indulging in anything fattening for the past few months but since the beginning of this month...I think life is too short for that.No more second thoughts,anything I feel like eating,I EAT!As I type this out,I can feel my stomach are in folds as I sit here.Plenty of spare tyres!I must say,I'm blessed to have friends taking me around and eating with me whatever my stomach desired. :D I don't want to get fat alone! :P Sharing is caring.

As for packing,nothing is packed yet.But quite confident I got all I need.I better do a stock check this week just in case!The thought of packing scares me.My father had already issued a warning not to bring/wear any "inappropriate" clothing there.I should try asking him what exactly would be deemed "inappropriate" but I don't want to start world war 3,so I'm gonna zip it.Now,I'm really starting to feel that my days here in Malaysia is numbered.With only two weeks left to meet up with people and to run errands,suddenly schedule seems tight.Not to mention,lazy days are part of my schedule.I do hope that the whole uni process will go smoothly.Visa,NOC etc

Also,I'm trying to wear all my clothes out before I leave.Cause I'm certain there are some,if not many,that would make me be really out of place if worn in Indo.This is a challenge for me because I THINK I'm a creature of habit and would like to wear the same clothes I always do.So,if you happen to see photos of me,or when you see me outside,please consider the way I dress as fancy instead of overdressed.But,of course,I don't plan to wear my cocktail dresses when catching a movie or drinking teh tarik at Murni.If you do see that happen,I probably have a VERY good reason for it or maybe gone crazy.

I'm going to miss this weekend very much I think.Two girlfriends came for a sleepover on Friday and we spent almost the whole Friday and Saturday together.We had chocolate fondue with fruits etc for supper on Friday night.We were up early on Saturday to run my errands.Thank God for them cause I wouldn't have been able to do my errands without them.You see,father had to reach the office by 8.30 am latest.I had a dental appointment,to drop-off documents at the agency and buy medication from the skin clinic.I got to use the car for the whole day!But I had to pick father up after work and he's so impatient!Mother wanted to sleep in,so she didn't follow me.Thus,making my point that it was a blessing in disguise that I had two friends with me.Friend A and I took turns to drive as some of the places I had to go was impossible to get a parking.The plan for the day had some hiccups but all went well in the end.So relieved!

I plan to bake this coming week and I hope the plan works out!I have been wanting to bake and try something different and finally got the chance to!Will blog about it of it turns out well,promise! :)
I have been watching season 1 to 4 of The Big Bang Theory.Oh Dr. Sheldon Cooper makes me want to strangle him but I find him and the humour very entertaining.But I do feel that people who studied science would relate to the show better than people who didn't.

Now,now...Why am I so anxious about leaving?I'll obviously be coming back from time to time.Not like I'm at the other side of the world.I still want to see some people before I go cause the next time I come back,I probably won't get to see them again.Even if I do,some things won't be the same anymore...

The long wait is over for me and I've finally received the news I'd always wanted-To be accepted into medical school.On 19th of June,I sat for an entrance exam for an Indonesian university.Trying to get into this uni was what I had been doing for the past few months.Applications and studying for the entrance exam was very annoying.What's worse was that when I sat for the first paper which consisted of 100 questions from Math,Biology,Chemistry and Physics together was VERY difficult.I assure you,no amount of studying and past year questions would have prepared me or most people for that paper.I clearly remember one of the math question asked about what year a certain mathematician was born in.Like,COME ON!ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!Being me,I randomly circled an answer.It's terrible,please never do what I did.
Also,no calculators are allowed for this exam.I calculated everything the old fashioned way and of course,numbers being my biggest weakness,I never really got the exact answer for most of the calculations-involved questions.I circled the answer closest to the value I got.Better than nothing,I thought.This exam consist of a written test-4 subjects,an interview and MMPI(Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory).All in a day!
MMPI had 576 questions and it was a two-hour paper but I finished it in one and didn't bother checking through cause my mind couldn't handle anymore of it.A friend even said she fell asleep while answering the questions!Most of us were up by 5.30am to be at the exam venue by 7.By the time I reached home and had Father's dinner at Korean BBQ,I was burned out by the end of the day.

Thus,I was more than surprised,beyond shocked and words,when I saw I passed.A friend informed that the results was available on a website.She gave me the link and asked me to check if it is really possible to find out as she isn't one of the applicants of this university.I clicked the link and there was a link to check the results of the entrance exam.I typed in my test number,thankfully I didn't throw my paper away after the exam.Clicked the Search button,had to scroll down and I did it slowly as my heart was racing.I saw it.Without thinking,I copied the link and gave it to my friend to read and check if I read correctly.Dramatic I know,but I just wanted to be sure!Called up my group friends to ask and help them check,and we're all so blessed as we all got accepted!This means we all got our first choice of uni.

I know,I wouldn't have passed for this exam without God's grace.So,Thank You Father!and thank you to each one of you for your kind prayers and wishes!

The wait is over but this marks a new beginning and I'm looking forward to this new chapter.

Welcome home!

Guess who's home for three months? :) My boyfriend.Yes,that's right.After nine months of skyping,tweeting,whatsapp-ing,I've finally managed to see her in person and hug her!

Though,our first encounter since she came home wasn't very romantic,(think Mamak),but to be fair it was dark,so I guess that counts as romantic :P

But,we've finally managed to spend some quality time together at home just bumming and talking and doing nothing.What a bliss it was!Not to mention,she surprised me by calling me only when she was outside my door. :)

For the love of nail polish

I'm waiting for my nails to dry as I'm typing this.Both toenails and fingernails,though I think the toenails should be fine by now.I had opted for Tropical Temptation,some pinkish-orangish hue for toenails but ended up having that only my left foot and Orange Pop (which is scented) on my right foot.Silly to use scented nail polish on the foot isn't it?

Imagine this; "Hey!wanna sniff my nail polish?""sure!"*lifts foot up to friend's face*"What the heck are you doing?!I don't want to smell your foot!"

Okay,that was pointless but you get my drift.

As for the fingernails,I'd decided to use Bubblegum(scented too!) on my left hand cause I'm a righty.So,I always do right hand last.But then,I thought I should wait till tomorrow to do my right hand as I'm too sleepy and lazy for it now.When I was keeping the bottles back into the cupboard,I noticed a silver colour nail polish I've not used either.Decided to try it on my right thumb,and instantly fell in love!So,here I am waiting for my 5 other fingers on my right to dry before I go to bed.Maybe I might just fall asleep here.

I shall hope to wake up tomorrow to a day where fashionsistas around the world will deem having mismatched nail colour is the season's "in" thing.

I couldn't care more.

Ps: Did I mention having a manicurist & pedicurist as a friend can give one a stressful and embarrassing time trying to put on nail polish according to certain standards?Also,whenever you use nail polish,you or more like your techniques will be scrutinized ?For every stroke of brush that can be seen,you know the degree of your amaturity.

The title of this post says it all.I'm currently down with what seem to be a rather incurable cough.I've finished my course of antibiotics,cough tablets,cough syrup and even took some chinese cough pills.Usually,it won't be so bad when I wake up.About 3 hours after that,the coughing fit starts.Oh,bless you,weak lungs!I blame my lungs and perhaps my throat.Since it's very sensitive too.The doctor told me so.She said something like,my throat would be the first thing to "go" when I'm unwell or overly stressed.

Next thing bothering me would be the wire in my mouth constantly poking me.Must remember not to talk too fast or laugh too much.Labour Day just passed and I'm so glad tomorrow,or rather today,is still a holiday.I spent Labour's Day being a labourer.I spent the day scrubbing the toilet and ironing baskets of clothes.I should have started studying for something.But,with the other added housework,I think I'm just gonna have to start later?Cause sleep is on my mind now.
Wait,I can't stop coughing now.Someone,anyone?Do you happen to have the most magical cure for cough?If yes,please share it with me.I don't want to waste half my energy everyday just on coughing.

Ps:I actually have more proper(exciting) things to blog about.But,the cough is killing me.Till next time!

According to Google,today is Ice Cream Sundae Day.This is certainly new to me!I'm a huge fan of ice cream,and basically anything sweet.Besides,who could argue about not liking ice cream or a sundae?Cheers to all the ice cream lovers out there!

So,if you're wondering what a non-studying student is doing,but not just any non-studying student,it's me.Wonder no more cause I'm about to bore you with my stories from the past few weeks.

The first thing I can remember is I sat for IELTS exam,for those of you who don't know what that is,it's an international English proficiency test(Google it!).As most universities require this,it's quite necessary to sit for it and did I mention,it costs a bomb?I don't know about you,but paying RM550 for an English exam is quite a waste of money.Think about all the clothes or accessories I can buy with that amount of money.
I clearly remembering screwing up the speaking part.For one of the questions asked,all I did was stared at the examiner blankly for a good ten seconds or so.Sad,I tell you.There was also a section where I'm required to speak on the question for two minutes but I think I said everything in less than one.From her body language,I could tell I was in a bit of trouble.However,though God's grace,I think the examiner tried helping me out towards the end,I won't tell how though.I got band 7.5 for the speaking section which is way better than I expected.Overall,I got band 8 which I'm very grateful for!It is shocking to me,honestly.Thank you my friend,S!For lending me the book and making the effort to pass it to me. :)

The exam falls on a Saturday,so after the exam,I finally met up with the Omega boys and 50 cent.It was a pleasant reunion indeed!Some had to leave early,for the rest of us that stayed longer watched The Mechanic.Now,this is another good movie!I absolutely love Jason Statham in action movies!I think he's rather dash ;P I somewhat like him a bit more than Daniel Craig.Daniel Craig seems more wrinkly and sometimes I think his face doesn't quite match his body.But,I'm not saying Daniel Craig is lousy.
Storyline was not that bad but like all action movies,the action will be better.There was a twist in the movie which I didn't quite expect.TW reminded though,how could Jason Statham die?

I know this is quite late,but if you haven't watch it yet,give it a go!Download it,cause I don't think it's worth paying for,unless it's rm6. :D

Hmm...What else have I been doing?

Ah...yes,work.I managed to get myself,Ash and Em jobs for the Michael Buble Crazy Love Tour Concert.Boy,it was good!Actually,no,it was GREAT!I did underestimated him.He sings or sounds much better live than recorded I feel.Also,he's got a very good sense of humour and he's a true entertainer!Did I mention,he's very charming with the ladies too?

My job was to usher people to their seats-sort of.Basically,we're given different sections to take care and help anyone whose seats are at that zone.Of course,we had to learn everyone else's sections too cause not everyone that walks near you is seated at your zone.I would have to admit though that I was only busy for an hour or so,when the people are coming into the stadium.I was excited for Buble to sing Everything!

Just like other things in life,there was an unexpected twist.When he started singing Everything and before I could enjoy it,three people came in and was looking for their seats and it happened to be in my section.I just showed them the direction and row of their seats.Then,Em told me that there are people already seated in those seats.We asked for tickets from both parties and realised it was exactly the same!I went off and brought the tickets to my supervisor.Lo and behold!One set of those tickets are actually fake/invalid.So,yes,I had myself quite a bit of drama that time.And it all had to happen during that one song I really wanted to hear live.Oh well,everything was sorted out and I managed to enjoy the rest of the night :D The whole event,post-mortem and pay-time ended by 11pm!I was glad it ended sooner than expected as Dad needed to pick me and the next day was Monday,which means work for him.I came home starving and had four slices of bread with a giant omelette!Such joy to be home,have a bath and eat!Not to mention,much needed sleep and rest after that.Here's some pictures from my iPhone with a dying battery that night :

127 hours

That's the most recent movie I've watched in the cinema.I was quite disappointed that the theater was a small one :( I bet all the huge ones were showing that silly movie involving Los Angeles and something about world battle.Like,come on,haven't you watched enough movies about end of the world,2012 and all that?It's getting boring and the only reason Hollywood keep coming up with all these movies is for the production of 3D movies.Hollywood is definitely running out of ideas to give their 3D movies a good storyline.

Back to 127 hours!I thought the movie was a good one!Wasn't great but pretty good.I did feel the beginning was a bit slow moving,but hey,what do you expect when you try to cram 127 hours into 110 minutes?For that,saying it's slow moving is quite unfair I feel.Those who cannot stand the sight of blood,would probably want to pass on this movie.Oh!I really love all the soundtracks from the movie too.I don't know why,but I thought the choice of soundtracks are nice.Overall,I find the movie quite inspirational!I'm sure the book would be worth reading too.If anyone have read it,do share with me!

Besides reading good reviews about this movie,another reason I really wanted to watch this movie was because...

I think he's really hot! :P That's James Franco,played the main character in 127 hours.Only problem watching this movie with a guy is you can't get to squeal and swoon over the hot actor.So,I would really like to watch this movie again with girlfriends that appreciate the movie AND James Franco!*hint*hint* You know who you are,girlfriend!

Note to self and anyone who wants to watch a movie on weekends at Pyramid:
THINK AGAIN!The ticket line is treacherous.I think I grew much older by the end of the line.

Panna Cotta cures homesickness

I was feeling very homesick for the past one week or so.I know,you're thinking,how can I be homesick when I live in Malaysia?!Whatever okay.You probably won't get it that I feel like I've two homes?Sometimes I'm just so tempted to book a flight to NZ and just go.Knowing that it isn't a very rational solution to my problems,I decided to make something that reminded me of the taste of NZ.I would have done pavlova if I was braver,but as I was scrolling through my godma's food blog,I decided on panna cotta with strawberry coulis!I absolutely love that dessert when she made it for me back in NZ.Besides,I wanted something fruity and not so chocolatey,this is the answer!It's really really REALLY easy to make.No hidden tricks,trust me!I even told some of my friends you can make it blindfolded!(probably not,cause you might burn yourself.Oh well,figure of speech!)
Since I'm so kind,*cough*,I'm putting the recipe here and hopefully,someone will give this a try!

Ingredients:

500 ml Heavy cream ( or half-and-half - I used 250 ml whole milk and 250 ml whipping cream )

50 gm Granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract, or 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise

2 1/4 tsp powdered gelatin

3 tbsp (45 ml) cold water

Method:

Heat the heavy cream and sugar in a saucepan or mirowave. Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
(If using a vanilla bean, scrape the seeds from the bean into the cream and add the bean pod. Cover, and let infuse for 30 minutes. Remove the bean then rewarm the mixture before continuing.)
Lightly oil 4 custard cups with a neutral-tasting oil.
Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water in a medium-sized bowl and let stand 5 to 10 minutes or soaked gelatin sheets in cold water for 5 - 10 minutes and squeeze excess water before using.
Pour the very warm Panna Cotta mixture over the gelatin and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
Divide the Panna Cotta mixture into the prepared cups, then chill them until firm.
If you’re pressed for time, pour the Panna Cotta mixture into wine goblets so you can serve them in the glasses, without unmolding.
Run a sharp knife around the edge of each Panna Cotta and unmold each onto a serving plate, and garnish as desired.

Strawberry Coulis

Ingredients:

460 gm Fresh Strawberries
1/3 cup Castor sugar
2 tbsp Kirsch

Method:

Slice thinly the strawberries.
In a heavy bottom pot, put in the starwberries with the sugar and cook until sugar disolved and the juice thickens. Do not stir vigorously so that the strawberry slices will not be macerated.
Remove the pot from the heat and add in the Kirsch. Let cool.

Note:

You can serve this Panna Cotta with honey, chocolate sauce or anything that you might like.

Bits bout Aotearoa

So,after such a long delay,I am finally back to this blog.Hopefully,this time around I'll be more faithful to it.Gees,I'm sounding as if it's a relationship!I'd recently signed up for Nuffnag ads,and going through that process kind of made me want to blog better.I feel bad for telling them about all the things I blog about.Not that I'm lying!Just that the previous posts were removed and currently not blogging much,so I can't really show that I'm the blogger I said I am.

I'm gonna tell you some things I found rather interesting when I first stepped on this giant island.

First impression of the airport was,well,it seemed like all the other airports.It has that airport air and feel to it.To my surprise,the airport seemed rather small!Compared to KLIA of course.And,KLIA seemed small compared to Changi Airport.Btw,my flight had a transit at Singapore and it was a rather short transit time for us.We had to walk really fast throughout and walking seemed never ending.Best part was,when we arrived at the gate,flight was delayed and therefore gate isn't opened yet.We were starving but didn't bother heading to the food court as it was quite a distance to walk all the way.

Okay,back to BITS bout New Zealand.
I noticed that there were plenty of pregnant women!I kid you not!Within 500m of where I was standing in a shopping mall,there was at least 5 or 6 pregnant women!I didn't really bring it up until my godma said out loud the thought in my mind!My godpa said it has been a long winter,that's why!

The next thing was that there were plenty of old people.I'm talking like 80-90 year olds here!Okay,so you ask,what's the big deal?Malaysia also got old people.But let me ask you this,do you see plenty of old people shopping or driving around?The senior citizens here are very independent.The basically do everything on their own,even live on their own.You see them exercising,going for walks or basically in the outdoors being active.Personally,I think the cleanliness of the air,with beautiful sceneries and the lifestyle is what made these old people live pretty long!

I don't know why this next thing on my list was quite surprising to me.I noticed out of 10 men,8 would have very visible tattoos.As for the woman,it would be almost the same.I happened to flip through a magazine while waiting in line to pay for groceries while I was out with my godma one day.I read that more women than men have tattoos in New Zealand.Most men regretted having tatts but not so much for the ladies.There was statistics but obviously I won't be able to remember all the figures after so long!

Most might not find this one very captivating but there are public toilets everywhere!I mean,everywhere in a good way.Every stretch of beach would have at least two toilets.Even in towns,after every few blocks,there would be one.Here's the best part,the toilet is VERY clean compared to our Malaysian toilets.Most of the toilets don't even smell.There's also a constant supply of toilet paper in every toilet I went in,I kid you not!

Well,that's all the "fun facts" I can think about for now.On a random note,the sales there are pretty good!If you were living there and earning nzd,things during sales is very cheap!However,my godma isn't keen on shopping for clothes there all the time and I can understand that.After being in every clothes shop in almost every mall in the Auckland area,when I go out,for almost every teenage girl,I can tell where she got her top/dress/outfit from.Once,I was out with my godbro,we were just strolling around the mall until I went,"that girl's baju is from ******* "."That one is from **********" .He turned to me and said,"That's enough shopping for you!You know where everyone's clothes are from!".Towards the end of my stay,even my godma had this very special 'talent'!So,you get my point.There isn't a very wide variety of shops or people just tend to like what other people like?

During my stay,I was fed with very good food!My godma prepared wonderful meals,the kind that I like very much.That would be non-rice meals!From grilled salmon to french onion soup to the most awesome beef burger ever!Don't get me started on the desserts!I would probably do another post just about the food I had there.Both from restaurants and also the ones my godma prepared.

Story behind it:
My godbro was being very nice following me into every shop looking at clothes even though the case is usually me looking at clothes and he on his psp.That is why I was very surprised when he took this t shirt and told me I should get it.It was 20nzd at that time and wasn't keen on that.Much later,say,a few weeks after that,we went to the same shop again and I saw that it was reduced to 15nzd!I decided to buy it and while paying for it at the counter,the cashier said it's 12nzd!Ah!Such joy!But,I'm gonna be careful about wearing this around my family.When I'd tried it on,my godbro launched a tickle attack on me.If any strangers were to do that to me,I'll gladly give them a punch :D

I bought another Elmo tee,the tee says it all.

Brand new chapter

Hello there!To whoever or what ever is reading this. :D

I am back and hopefully able to blog about my trip to NZ soon.For now,I need to focus on IELTS exam and catch up on my movies and tv series.So much has changed since I left.Family bonds strengthen,friendships renewed and some friendships,sadly,came to a dead end.I do want to try and salvage what's left of a specific friendship.But I don't think it's worth it anymore if the other person doesn't want it.Also,I have removed all the previous blog posts as I want to start this year afresh.A chapter of my life has ended and a brand new one has just begun.I removed those posts not to remove my past,but I accept my past as what it is and know enough to close that chapter and start a new one.I hope to fill this blog with better and more content this time around!

Here's to a fresh start

Greetings to the year 2011!One decade has pass and another has just begun.Ushering the new year this year was definitely different and some ways,special too.No fancy parties I had attended nor counting it down.For the past years,I would usually be in church for service.But this year,it was different.I ushered in the new year by watching fireworks by the letterbox down the driveway of my godmum's house in Waller Ave,Bucklands Beach,Auckland,New Zealand.The view of the city and the colours of the fireworks bursting in the dark sky was just absolutely beautiful.After the show of fireworks ended,I looked up to the sky,and there it was;the stars in the sky that shines so ever bright.Truly,what God had created is magnificent.I was numb the whole entire night.No feeling of joy,no feeling of sadness.Just,numb.I consoled myself by telling myself that the 2010 is gone.At least,all that had happened is behind you now.In many ways,I'm grateful that the year is over and a new and perhaps,scary,year has just begun.

My family and I spent the day having a picnic with another family at a park today.One of the couple's daughter asked me how old I was.Before I could say I'm 19,I stopped.I thought for awhile and realised,it's 2011 now.I'll no longer be 19.I'm going to turn 20.Ah!20!Such a big number compared to my teen years.I asked myself,what have you done for the past 19 years of your life?And it hit me.
I'm turning 20 and yet,I have achieved so little.What a shame.
I cannot turn back time and recreate my life.But what I can do is,instead of having resolutions,I shall remember that statement every morning of 2011,and live my day with that thought in my mind.Make it my driving force.
Let's just say,it'll be my sort-of resolution.
